Bose A30 and Android cockpit recording

Bluetooth: no · Wired mode

According to Bose's documentation and owner reports, the A30's Bluetooth link carries only your own microphone to the phone; intercom and radio audio are not mixed in. The switch in the battery compartment only sets priority between Bluetooth and the AUX input. So a Bluetooth recording contains your voice, not ATC.

What works: wired mode

  1. Get a headset recorder adapter (GA dual plug in, 3.5 mm TRRS out; Pilot USA PA-80 style, about USD 60–100). It sits between the headset and the panel and taps the audio you hear.
  2. Connect its 3.5 mm plug to your phone. Pixels have no jack: use a USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter that supports a microphone (Google's own adapter does; many cheap dongles are output-only).
  3. In TowerOwl, Settings › Input › Wired (Pro), then Record.

Replay then plays through the phone rather than into the headset, unless your panel has an aux input.
