Summary

TowerOwl records audio only when you tap Record, stores it only on your device, and sends nothing anywhere. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising.

What the app processes

• Audio recordings. Captured from your Bluetooth headset (or a wired input) while you record. Stored in the app's private folder on your device (Android/data/ch.ameria.towerowl/files). Never uploaded. Deleted when you delete them or uninstall the app.
• Notes and bookmarks. Stored next to the recordings, on the device only.
• Settings. Stored on the device only.
• Purchases. The Pro unlock is processed by Google Play. Google handles payment and shares no payment details with us. The app keeps a local note that Pro is active. Google's privacy policy applies to Play purchases.

Permissions

• Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): required to capture the headset's Bluetooth call channel or a wired input.
• Bluetooth (BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, BLUETOOTH_SCAN): to see which headset is connected and, in Diagnostics, to list its Bluetooth services.
• Notifications: the recording indicator with Stop, Bookmark and Replay actions.
• Foreground service (microphone): keeps the recording running when the screen is off or another app is in front.
• Battery optimisation exemption (optional): so long recordings are not stopped by the system.

Sharing and export

Recordings and notes leave the device only when you use Share or Export yourself. What you share is then subject to the receiving app or service.

Compatibility reports

The optional “Report result” button in the headset test opens this website with the headset model, the test result, a peak level, your phone model and the app version in the address bar. Nothing is sent unless you submit the form. Submitted reports are stored to build the public compatibility list; an email address is only used to reply to you.

Crash data

The app contains no crash-reporting SDK. If Google Play's own crash statistics are enabled on your device, Google shares aggregated crash data with us under Google's terms.

This website

towerowl.com is hosted on Vercel and uses Vercel's privacy-friendly, cookie-less visit statistics. No advertising trackers.

Recording other people

Recording the intercom records everyone on it. You are responsible for complying with the recording and consent laws that apply to your flight. In many countries all participants must consent.
